FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF PRISM

FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF PRISM

Flexural strength tests were carried out on 150mm x 150mm x 750mm beams at the age of 28days of curing using Universal Testing Machine by subjecting the specimen to two-point loading to determine the flexural strengths.
The flexural strength can be calculated from the following formula.
Flexural strength        -    wl/bd2      for  a > l/3
                                   -   3wa/bd2    for  a < l/3
Where,
W = Maximum load, L = Length of the specimen, B = Breadth of the specimen,
D = Depth of the specimen, A = Distance between the line of fracture and the nearest support.
