1. (a) De?ne and explain brie?y the following terms:
i. Height of building
ii. Service Road
iii. Building set back.


(b) Explain the objectives of building byelaws in large urban areas. [9+7]
2. Write short notes on any two of the following:
(a) Di?erent types of rollers used for compaction
(b) Stabilization of soils with cement
(c) Geotechnical materials. [16]


3. Design an village panchayat o?ce for the following requirements and draw a line
diagram.
(a) Entrance and waiting room - 15 sq.m.
(b) Meeting hall to accommodate 40 people - 40 sq.m.
(c) V.P. President Chambers with attached toilet - 18 sq.m.
(d) V.P Secretary Chambers with attached toilet - 15 sqm.
(e) O?ce for 10 sta? - 100 sq.m.
(f) Toilet blocks - 2 Nos. of suitable size.
(g) Necessary provision to be made for corridors. [16]

7. For the network shown in ?gure 4, assume that after working 14 days on the project,
the following conditions exist:-
(a) Activities 1-2 and 1-3 are complete as originally planned.
(b) Activity 3-4 is in process and will need 16 more days for completion.
(c) Activity 4-5 appears to present some problem and its now estimated time of
completion is 10 days.
(d) Activity 4-6 can be completed in 5 days instead of the originally planned 7
days.
Update the network and compare the crictal paths for the old network and the
updated network and thus calculate the remaining duration of the project. [16]
